Alyssa Nassner is one of my favorite illustrators. Her work never ceases to inspire me and brighten my day. Today, I thought I would share some of her amazing work.
Have a lovely day! xoxo Happy Friday Dallasites. I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving filling their bellies and feasting with family and friends. Now that holiday season is officially here there is so much going on in Dallas, and below is a little list of my favorite holiday activities:
Neiman Marcus's Crawl Tube Experience The tarp has been uncovered and the gorgeous holiday windows have been revealed. Neiman Marcus downtown is already a stunning destination for this Christmas season, but if you have little ones then it is a must! Kids literally get to climb inside the fantastic holiday windows and experience it from within. The glitz and glamour are beyond fabulous. Dallas Christmas Lights We may not have bundles of snow falling during our winter season, but Dallas is the créme de la créme of Christmas lights. Downtown Dallas is a glowing display and the lights in Highland Park Village are unbelievably beautiful. This year I plan on driving around Kessler Park and do a little winter wonderland dreaming. The Dallas Flea - Saturday, December 1 Y'all know how much I love The Dallas Flea and I am super excited about stocking up on Christmas presents at this upscale indoor flea market! For a five dollar entry fee, I'll be oohing and aahing over the holiday decorations, local artwork, furniture, and fashion! Children's Medical Center Holiday Parade - Saturday, December 1 New York may have the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but here in Dallas we have the enchanting Holiday Parade benefiting the Children’s Medical Center. Complete with giant inflatable balloons, bands, performances, and even a few celebrities. Perot Museum - Opening Saturday, December 1 Save the date and give the gift of science at the Grand Opening of Dallas's newest museum on December 1st. The building itself is a piece of scientific art - the outer skin is made up of 656 textured precast concrete panels and has a fantastic 150-foot glass-enclosed tube-like structure protruding from the side, making it a stunning addition to downtown Dallas. I am so excited to check out the interior and visit the museum. The Nutcracker - Now through December 2 For me, nothing is more magical than The Nutcracker. as a child it was apart of our holiday traditions and I can't imagine a more perfect way to celebrate the season. The dancing, the music, the costumes - all contributing to Clara's legendary fantasy. So join the wintry wonderland as Texas Ballet Theater presents The Nutcracker. Elf at Main Street Garden - Saturday, December 8 "We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup." I'm pretty obsessed with all holiday movies but Elf is without a doubt one of my favorites. And something about about snuggling up with my hubby on a blanket with some hot chocolate on Main Street Garden's lawn, while we watch Elf, makes me feel giddy inside. Dallas Heritage Village For years Dallas Heritage Village has been transforming its nineteenth century houses and commercial buildings into one of the loveliest places to celebrate the holiday season. With their Candlelight event and Victorian Christmas they promise to bring history to Dallas in a magical way. Studio Party - Saturday, December 15 Tis' the season to support your fellow Texan artisans, and if you visit my blog regularly you'll know about my obsession with Dowdy Studio. I've already acquired a massive wish list from their wagon and am so looking forward to their December studio party. Come shop the Dowdy Studio Wagon and enjoy local brewskies and some holiday spirits! It's going to be fun! Be sure to check out other events in Deep Ellum, the Bishop Arts District, and Klyde Warren Park. xoxo I've only had my Nikon D5100 for a couple of months and I'm still learning all the ins and outs of my snazzy camera. So, I'll admit when my sister asked me to photograph her family holiday portraits I was a little nervous. There is still so much I want to learn and with so many phenomenal photographers to drool over I've been feeling a little inadequate. But, I was honored my sister asked and knew in an instant that I had to say yes.
I absolutely loved photographing my sister and her little family. It was a gorgeous day for shooting, and with my crazy nephews in tow the afternoon was a blast. xoxo I absolutely adore everything Christmasy and it doesn't take much to get me in the holiday spirit. After going to City Lights on Saturday evening I am completely jazzed about kissing under the mistletoe, roasting chestnuts on the fire, and snuggling up under a blanket with my hubby as we unwrap presents from Santa. Let the holidays begin!
I have a fabulous to do list coming your way for this holiday season. Check back on Friday, you won't want to miss it! xoxo Tomorrow night City Lights will be commencing the holiday season by lighting up downtown Dallas. The jollification begins at 7 p.m. with the Tree Lighting Ceremony! Come a little early and catch a glimpse of Neiman Marcus's holiday window and let the kids crawl through the tubes, or stay late and watch It's a Wonderful Life with your loves. Either way enjoy all the sparkle and shine as Dallas completes its winter makeover!
xoxo For my dad's birthday this year, I took him to Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park - an outdoor museum of nineteenth century houses and commercial buildings. At 1515 South Harwood Street, it's conveniently located near the heart of downtown Dallas, making it a quick 20 minute walk from my apartment. The beautiful Main Street is lined with a fantastic collection of historical buildings, and the backdrop of downtown is lovely. We made a whole day of it and definitely enjoyed the history lesson. I'm hoping to head back in December for their Candlelight event!
Happy Friday Dallasities! Keep it local this weekend! xoxo I know what you're thinking...it's way too early to be getting excited about Christmas, but I can't help myself. Downtown has begun it's winter makeover - thousands of lights, giant glowing globes, the tree, and of course the anticipation of Neiman Marcus's holiday window! The unveiling is Saturday, November 17th!
xoxo It's not unusual for The Nasher to have fantastic exhibitions, but this colorful exhibit took the cake! Last Saturday, artists Marianne Newsom and Sunny Sliger visited Dallas and created a huge installation of shredded plastic in the garden. It was lovely! Who knew plastic could be so incredibly beautiful? It was amazing walking into the space and becoming completely struck with the entire garden infused with color. Depending on the wind speed the sculptures take on different forms, making the installation even more delightful. The absolute best part was being able to participate in the creation - mum and I contributed by hanging up a couple of colorful strands.
Do something pretty this weekend! xoxo |
