Even though the food was delicious (at least in my opinion) and the Pimm's was a complete success, I was more intrigued with the opening cermony. Initially it reminded me of The Shire and I kept waiting for Bilbo Baggins to make an apperience. However, once it started I thoroughly enjoyed Danny Boyle's quirky protrayal of British history. Even though it was long, it was definitely a fun and eccentric theatrical show. My favorite parts were when the forged steel came together to create the Olympic rings above the stadium, the mass of nurses and patients on illuminated beds, J.K Rowling reading my favorite children's story - Peter Pan, the gigantic Lord Voldemort, Rowan Atkinson making an appearance as a member of the symphony, and I absolutely loved all the fireworks! The lighting of the Olympic "Cauldron" was without a doubt my favorite part of the ceremony, it was simply brilliant. And even though I wasn't impressed with Raulph Lauren's design for the U.S. uniforms, I still think the athletes looked amazing.
Here are some pics from our Olympic evening. xoxo
