Sunday morning, I woke up ridiculously early (even for me) and instead of laying in bed reading a book, or snuggling up on the couch - I decided to get up, take a walk, and spend some quality time with my city that I love oh so much.

Let's face it, if you live in Dallas you probably have a favorite restaurant that includes some cheesy queso, spicy salsa, and homemade tortillas. For me, it's Wild Salsa. Every time someone comes to visit me in Dallas we take a short walk here (seriously). It's two blocks from my apartment and has the best queso loaded with guacamole, sour cream, and chorizo - definitely not healthy but something I would love to indulge in everyday. They also have a fantastic brunch with killer huevos rancheros! Try it!
xoxo There are many sweet treats that I have an undying love for, one of them being cupcakes. I love making them, buying them, and eating them. And cupcakes served in a groovy little airstream are just simply delightful. Meet Trailercakes, the best mobile cupcakes in Dallas. I first tried these yummy treats at Fashion's Night Out and proclaimed them "the most absurdly good cupcakes I've ever tasted". Seriously love them. The hubby and I stopped by their trailer while at Kylde Warren Park and enjoyed PB&J, Cookie Monster, and an RV cupcake. Delicious! Next time I'm hoping to try Pebbles and Bam Bam, a white cake concoction filled with a marshmallow cream center and topped with Fruity Pebbles - hello amazing!
xoxo If your week has been anything like my week, then you are über excited that it's Friday and the start of the weekend. Click here for some fabulously free festivities and enjoy our beautiful city!
Happy Friday! xoxo I don't know what y'all have planned for this weekend, but it should definitely include ZERO, a one man show starring my incredibly talented and wonderful friend, Danny O'Connor (who also just happened to be one of our handsome groomsmen)!
This hilarious play has a little bit of everything. ZERO is the second play written by Danny and his brother, Robert. I saw it multiple times last time it was in Dallas, and I was never disappointed. It is side-aching, laugh until you can’t breathe funny, and perfectly upbeat. Even my husband, who hates going to the theatre, loves this show. With six distinct characters, you most definitely don't need another reason to go see it. Get more information here! See you at the show! xoxo Y'all the Dallas Museum of Art is now free! So excited! This is one of my most beloved places in the city, and I'm totally loving this new approach to membership! On January 21, the DMA returned to free general admission and launched a new program called Friends & Partners - completely free of charge to the public! I'm seriously stoked about being able to enjoy art without paying a dime. Click here for more information and be sure to take advantage of this amazing opportunity.
xoxo 2012 was an amazing year for me. There were so many milestones and celebrations. To be perfectly honest, with so many little memories wrapped up into 365 days, I don't know how 2013 can contend with such a fabulous year. The future is unknown, but I look forward to new adventures in the new year.
Happy New Year! xoxo Dallas Charities: 1. Paws in the City 2. Big Thought 3. North Texas Food Bank 4. Children's Medical Center
If you follow my blog, then you know I L.O.V.E Dowdy Studio. I'm a huge fan of all things unique, quirky, and eclectic. Dowdy is right there with Anthroplogie as one my favorite shopping destinations.
Saturday was their holiday studio party and for those of y'all who didn't show, shame on you because you totally missed out - free beer, snacks, a tee bar, and a merry giveaway! The minute we walked into the studio me and the hubby made a B line to the giveaway, entering to win our very own Dowdy t-shirt to be delivered by Christmas. And just in case Santa's elves don't make it to my doorstep with a holiday package - I ordered myself a custom shirt at their tee bar. A navy blue tee with Shave the Whales printed in white. I call it "The Exploding Pirate". It's pretty snazzy and it's one of kind y'all, that's right ladies and gents I am the only lady with this tee! I also snagged a couple of gifts for some lucky ladies in my life! Can't wait to do some gifting this week! We also headed over to Napkin Arts Studio to check out some of Jonathan's creations. He had some hot Dr. Pepper brewing and some awesome Christmas records playing to get us in a Christmasy mood. While I didn't try any of the hot Dr. Pepper, I did purchase myself some really fabulous ‘Scooter Holiday’ greeting cards. Seriously love me some of his screen printed amazingness. Not to worry if you missed out, the wagon is all around the town and if you're too lazy to track them down, head over to their etsy store and do a little on-line shopping. Be sure to check out Napkin Arts Studio store too! Happy Friday y'all! It's going to be another lovely weekend in Dallas, be sure to check out these local happenings around the city:
Celebrate the holidays Dowdy style at their studio on December 15th, from 4-9pm. Enjoy an collection of nativity scenes and real live reindeer at Holiday at the Dallas Arboretum. A bit of good, old fashioned holiday cheer during the Candlelight event at Dallas Heritage Village. Grab some hot chocolate, snuggle up on the couch with The Holiday Issue of D Magazine. Spend some time outside at Kyle Warren Park's holiday celebration in the park. Have a wonderful weekend in Dallas! |
